Nylon-12 Fluorescent Brightener 230 Salt description

Nylon-12 fluorescent brightener 230 salt is the result of the reaction of nylon-12, a synthetic polymer, with sulfonic acid. In cosmetics formulations, nylon-12 fluorescent brightener 230 salt is used as an opacifying agent, meaning it reduces transparency or translucence in a product. It is also used to add pearlescence. When combined with polyvinylalcohol crosspolymer, it is part of an ingredient blend known as LipoLight™ OAP-PVA, which is used to diffuse light and increase luminescence in cosmetics. Suggested usage levels of LipoLight™ OAP-PVA are generally between 3-5%, with 10% being the maximum.
